籃網隊首戰開幕戰下半場表現荒腔走板，直到最後時刻才回魂，雖然僅以一一七比一二二小輸東區強權塞爾蒂克隊五分，但用人輪替、球員定位不明確，加上教練團還沒找到團隊如何運作，成為吞敗主因。
籃網開幕首戰先發下半場表現荒腔走板，一度落後達到廿三分，直到末節最後五分鐘，靠著波格丹諾維奇帶領替補群打出氣勢，才將比數追近。
波格丹諾維奇攻下籃網最高的廿一分，而林書豪攻下全隊次高十八分。林書豪說：「我有沒有想過兩隊會變成只剩下三分差？沒有，但只要我們用正確方式打球，打得夠拚命，就會像是這樣，最後五分鐘相當激勵人心。」
而籃網本季多名新血加入，加上總頭亞特金森也是首度擔任總教練，比賽過程顯然從輪替到打法，都還在重新磨合，亞特金森也表示，球隊確實需要實戰來增加經驗。
而籃網主力中鋒洛培茲，過去幾年都維持平均廿分左右高水準，但昨天卻遭到冷凍大半場，全場只打了廿一分鐘，投七只中一，成為最讓人百思不得其解的調度。亞特金森說：「我們有長期計畫，要讓洛培茲學習新的戰術系統，慢慢增加他的時間，但目前為止還有點距離。」
與速度緩慢又是正統中鋒打法的洛培茲相較，速度較快，又有外線能力的替補中鋒漢彌爾頓昨天就有精采演出，全場三記三分球在內的十九分、十籃板，得分寫下生涯新高。
